Your Hosts

Wendy and Peter Aldiss have attended and hosted a good few parties and weddings in their time, so  we’d like to think this gives us an idea or two about what works  and how people want to be treated when planning something as important as a wedding, big party or one of life’s sadder events, such as a wake.

The family-run Monkton Barn accommodates significantly larger events than CourtGarden House and is a well-established local venue that features an immaculately converted barn with traditional beams, oak floors and 11 acres of rolling meadows. Over 10 years, we have developed a relaxed but professional approach with an emphasis on privacy and an understanding that clients who come to us often want to escape the predictable conveyor belt of the wedding industry. They have clear ideas about what they want and we are here to make it happen.

In 2016, we also became proprietors of CourtGarden House, introducing our informal, more family and privacy-driven approach with exacting standards, nothing-is-too-much-trouble approach and sense of fun to events at this beautiful historic building in the heart of Marlow.

Sense of fun? Above all, we have a choice about what we do, and we do this because it gives us joy, fun and real pleasure in being involved in such important life events.  What used to be called planning meetings, clients have re-christened ‘planning parties’; we believe the enjoyment should start long before the actual event. It’s because we truly love what we do, that we happily get drawn into your plans – often suggesting ideas that you’ve never even considered.
